Breaks & Overtime

ShiftRova can automatically deduct unpaid break time from longer shifts so your payroll reflects actual paid hours worked.

Configuring Break Rules

Go to Settings → Payroll Rules. You can define:

  • Auto Break Deduction: Automatically deduct a set break duration (e.g. 30 min) from any shift longer than a threshold (e.g. 5 hours).
  • Minimum Shift Length Before Break: The minimum shift length that triggers the deduction.

Overtime Thresholds

Define your overtime threshold (e.g. any hours worked beyond 38 per week) and the overtime multiplier (e.g. 1.5x). ShiftRova's payroll report will automatically flag and calculate overtime hours when generating the pay summary.

Award-Linked Rates

Each employee profile has an Award Link field where you can paste the relevant Fair Work Australia award URL. This serves as reference documentation for your records — ShiftRova does not currently auto-apply award rate tiers, so any penalty rates should be configured as a separate pay rate or handled in your external payroll software.
